We who have been living in a perpetual state of overwhelming heat are having quite the shock of chill in the air as of late. Our house thermostat read 62 degrees yesterday but I refuse to turn on the heat. I wont turn the heat on until October is over. That's a rule I like to live by, give my house and wallet a rest during the middle months. No AC, no heat. Simple enough, but if it keeps staying cold, I don't know how long I will keep up the stubborn streak.
On another note, we returned from our week at the beach to find that 2 large women dressed in camo, who drive a truck, have purchased the lot of land dividing us and a neighbor and are living in a tent while building a shed....
{I'll leave you with that mental image}
The house at the front of the street, that previously housed friends of ours, has been rented out to a couple with an elderly father. The husband travels a lot for work. That's all I could find out from our neighbors from across the street who looked after our dog while we were away.
So go away for a week, and our street of 10 residents becomes 15.
But back to the reason for this post....
It's cold, and though my house is quite chilly, and I have finally put a comforter on our bed (for 6 months we've only used a sheet) I have been finding comfort in the simple things that autumn brings such as....slipper socks, long underwear {super sexy}, hot tea, and hot cocoa. I am looking forward to fall fires, roasted marshmallows, pumpkin pies, and the changing leaves. Not to mention the wardrobe change to sweaters and scarves and boots, oh my!

We are wimps. I turned on the heat.
Dwight turned on the heat too. Yum - feels so good and I LOVE my new comforter. Double YUM. Not wimpy - when I was a young girl and would be so cold in a big old farm house with one stove in the living room - I said I would have central heat when I grew up - so turn it on. One of lifes true pleasures - turn a knob and heat pours into your house. Wow.
Yep, mine's on too! But may have to turn it back again. Got to 79 today, started out in the 40s. But I love fall! I dressed in 3 layers for service today. It was cold when I started in early morning so I had my boots, scarf, and coat on, then I shed that about 9 and just had a t-shirt and sweater on. And shed the sweater about 12. It was a great day!
Oops! That supposed to say 70!
I'm with you there on not turning on the heat. It just seems wrong to turn it on so soon. I was freezing this morning but after cleaning the house and baking dinner it warmed up quite nice. I too am looking forward to lots of hot chocolate, sweaters and reading books by the fire :) best time of the year coming up
I was trying to go without heat, but the hubby said 63 was too cold. :/ oh well. As for your new camo ladies...can't wait to hear more about them! :)
